GHS PTSA PROGRAMS 2011-2012

Please join us for some outstanding programs this year:

• “Preparing for College”: Learn what you need to do NOW to be ready for the college admissions process (even as a freshman parent).  Mrs. Mildred Johnson, Director of Admissions, Virginia Tech will discuss how to prepare during high school by taking the right classes, various testing (SAT, ACT, AP), and finding the right match for YOU.
• “Race to Nowhere” documentary film presentation and panel discussion.
• Discover ways to finance higher education of all types (community, public, and private) and gain information about the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) process.  Presentation by Mrs. Michelle Bhatta, Assistant Director of Financial Aid, University of Richmond.  Mrs. Amy Gravely, GHS Counseling Department, will discuss scholarship opportunities.
• “Make it Real”: Emphasis on building a community here at Godwin that supports and accepts our many differences. Part of this will involve introducing our students to “real-life heroes” who share their life stories and what they have learned about the true meaning of character and courage. 
• “Getting to Know Godwin”: Finding out about Godwin for incoming freshmen
• Documentary film and discussion presented by Commonwealth Parenting: More information to come.
